How to Deal with a Panic Attack
According to a study, 31% of people will experience a panic attack in their lifetime. Did you just got scared?
Well, today everyone is going through a busy
schedule. In such a hectic life, no one has time for themselves or their loved
ones. Thus, anxiety and depression have become a major concern.
Here a question arises: What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a significant cause of panic attacks.
We can't generally predict when a panic attack is going to knock on your door.
It manifests in a sudden and intense feeling of anxiety.
Symptoms of a panic attack:
One primary sign of a panic attack is
depression, although it also has some physical symptoms:
1. Rapid increase in heart rate
2. Shaking of hands and other body parts
3. Being out of breath.
4. A feeling of dizziness
Most of the panic attacks last for five minutes.
They may give you the illusion of a heart attack. But eventually there is
nothing to worry about, as today's world is much more aware of dealing with
such traumas. One must get consideration from a doctor.
When someone has a panic attack, they are
generally terrified, which is understandable. But you must remember that this
is not going to last for long.
How to handle a panic attack
Confront the fear: Generally, when an attack happens, one tries to run away
from the situation. But how would you find out what's going to happen next? The
first step to fighting a panic attack is to recognise it. Give yourself a
chance to discover the situation.
Counseling: When the situation gets worse, you must consult with a
specialist. Seeking a counsellor will help you face the real issues. You must
learn to talk about, face, and accept the actual causes. Remember, there is
nothing that can't be fixed.
Spend time with your people: No medication is bigger than a family. The love and
support of one's family can help to eliminate feelings of self-doubt. Always
count on the people who care for you. Make sure that this is going to pass and
will do you no harm.
Deep Breathing: A panic attack results in heavy breathing and chest
tightness. As a result, taking a deep breath can make a significant difference
in the situation. It can bring everything under control. Try to breathe calmly
and deeply, concentrating on each breath.
Finally, we want to reassure you that there is
nothing you cannot overcome. Everybody experiences a time in their life when
surviving seems to be impossible. But keep in mind that God has given us the
biggest gift of all: life.
